Alcohol Treatment is the most prevalent type of treatment that we service and remains eighty percent (80%) of the clients who we see for treatment. Alcohol is no less dangerous than many other substances, however, as a Dual Diagnosis facility, we do not believe that treating only the Alcohol-Use Disorder (AUD) will lead to a permanent change. Dual Diagnosis refers to the prevalence of a mental health condition co-occurring with the AUD. This is far more similar than most think. Because we cater to working individuals and retirees, our client census typically averages around 50 years of age. Demographically, our older population is more likely to abuse alcohol than other illicit substances.
However, the vast majority of the clients we see have co-occurring mental health conditions like PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and ADHD (The Four Horsemen). If we treat only the AUD, then we are, likely, only treating the symptom. It is far more probable that the cause of the drinking (or self-medicating) is one or more of the aforementioned conditions.
Our Dual Diagnosis Outpatient treatment is comprised of two distinct treatment programs:
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) treatment is a twelve-week dual diagnosis program that provides tremendous structure and accountability to an individual while letting them go about their daily routine.
- Structure: Each client is required to attend a minimum of 3 Groups per week. These groups are three hours and are held every weekday from 6:00-9:00 PM except for Sundays which are at 10 AM. Each individual is also required to have a one-on-one with their counselor every week.
- Accountability: Each individual is required to provide a minimum of one (1) weekly drug/alcohol screening.
Following the twelve-week program, most of our clients continue in Outpatient Program (OP) treatment. The requirements are fewer but there is still accountability.
Neurofeedback Brain Training therapy is an innovative treatment program designed to help stimulate your brain to make neuroplastic changes through positive and negative reactions to different brain wave activity. Because specific dysregulated brain wave activity is associated with specific symptoms of mental health conditions, we train the brain using individualized peer-reviewed protocols. Over time, the brain responds by adapting and evolving because it (you) prefers positive visual reactions versus negative ones. A typical treatment program ranges between 40-60 treatments, however, most of our clients lease home units so they can Train at home. Over time, Brain Training can alleviate many of the symptoms that lead to self-medication. There are also specific protocols designed for Alcohol Use Disorder.
