Indian River County’s Only Inpatient Detox — The First in a Generation/h2>
Treasure Coast Detox is Indian River County’s only inpatient detox and residential treatment facility — the first in a generation — coming soon to 6410 Old Dixie Hwy in Vero Beach, FL. For years, residents of Indian River County seeking medically supervised detox have had no choice but to leave their community to access this level of care. That changes with Treasure Coast Detox.
Owned and operated by Vero Beach Recovery Center LLC — the same organization behind the CARF-accredited outpatient programs at 333 17th Street — Treasure Coast Detox was built to fill a critical gap in the local continuum of addiction treatment. Individuals facing life-threatening withdrawal, or those who simply need more structure than outpatient care can provide, now have a local, trusted option.
Medically Monitored Detoxification
Treasure Coast Detox offers ASAM Level 3.7 Medically Monitored Intensive Inpatient care — the clinical standard for patients who require 24-hour nursing observation and medical oversight during withdrawal. This level of care is designated specifically for individuals withdrawing from alcohol and benzodiazepines (sedative-hypnotics), the two substance classes whose withdrawal syndromes can become medically dangerous or life-threatening.
Alcohol Use Disorder is by far the most prevalent need we serve at this level — alcohol withdrawal carries real risk, including seizures and delirium tremens, that demands physician-supervised management in a controlled inpatient setting. Benzodiazepine withdrawal carries similar risks. Our medical and nursing staff monitor patients continuously throughout the detox process, adjusting treatment protocols as needed to ensure safety and comfort. Clients don’t just get through detox here — they do so under the care of a team committed to their wellbeing from the first hour to the last.
Intensive Inpatient Treatment
Not every patient entering Treasure Coast Detox requires medical detox. For individuals who need the structure and safety of a 24-hour inpatient environment — but don’t meet the clinical criteria for medically monitored detox — we provide ASAM Level 3.5 Clinically Managed High-Intensity Residential treatment.
This level of care is well-suited for patients managing Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), stimulant use disorder, or those stepping down from an acute detox stay who need continued stabilization before transitioning to outpatient care. Clinical staff are on-site around the clock, providing individual and group therapy, case coordination, and a structured therapeutic environment that supports early recovery. It is inpatient treatment in the truest sense — not a step-down bed, but a defined, active treatment program.
A Controlled and Safe Environment
Treasure Coast Detox is not a walk-in clinic, a methadone clinic, or a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) outpatient center. It is a licensed, medically supervised inpatient facility — designed to be exactly that.
Patients are admitted by appointment through a structured intake process and are transported to the facility; they do not arrive or depart on their own. There is no unscheduled foot traffic. This controlled environment is essential to delivering safe, effective care — and it reflects the serious, clinical nature of the level of treatment we provide. Treasure Coast Detox is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) and is actively pursuing Joint Commission (JCAHO) accreditation upon opening. These standards aren’t formalities — they are the framework that ensures patients and families can trust the care they receive here:
- Florida DCF licensed inpatient facility
- JCAHO accreditation process initiated at launch
- 10 licensed inpatient beds
- 24-hour medical and clinical staff on-site
- Structured admissions — no walk-ins, no unscheduled arrivals
- Transportation coordinated for all admissions and discharges
The Full Continuum of Care
What makes Treasure Coast Detox genuinely different isn’t any single service — it’s what comes after. Treasure Coast Detox exists within a fully integrated, locally operated continuum of care, all under the Vero Beach Recovery Center umbrella:
- Inpatient Detox (ASAM 3.7) — Medically monitored withdrawal management at Treasure Coast Detox
- Intensive Inpatient Treatment (ASAM 3.5) — Structured residential care at Treasure Coast Detox
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — Step-down group and individual therapy at Vero Beach Recovery Center
- Outpatient Program (OP) — Ongoing clinical support and relapse prevention at Vero Beach Recovery Center
Every step of this pathway takes place in Indian River County — no transfers to out-of-county facilities, no gaps between providers, no loss of clinical continuity. A patient can move from medically monitored detox to inpatient stabilization to IOP to outpatient care within the same organization, with treatment teams that communicate directly. That full continuum of care is rare anywhere. In Indian River County, it is unprecedented.
Insurance and Admissions
Treasure Coast Detox accepts the following insurance:
- Commercial insurance (most major carriers)
- TRICARE (active duty and veterans)
- VA Community Care Network (VA CCN)
Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted at this time.
The admissions process begins with a single call or text to our team. We handle insurance verification, conduct a clinical pre-assessment, and coordinate all transportation — so the logistical burden doesn’t fall on patients or families at the most difficult moment. Our goal is to make the path from that first call to first day of treatment as clear and supported as possible.
